Camera movements practice
Camera Movement
A director may choose to move the pace of action along by telling the narrative via a series of cuts, changing from one shot to another, or the camera may be moved with the action. The camera movement can draw the viewers attention to or away from something, or switch from one subject to another that appears in the same frame. E.g a tracking shot where the camera physically moves closer or further away from the subject is most commonly used to increase the drama of what is being said or done.

E.g a tracking shot where the camera physically moves closer or further away from the subject is most commonly used to increase the drama of what is being said or done.
- Zooming- zoom lenses are a mechanical assembly designed with elements to vary its focal length, with he ability to magnify within the frame, as opposed to a fixed focal length. The magnification process can be reversed by zooming out, creating an opening for a long/ wide shot.
- Panning- panning involves a movement of scanning a scene/landscape from left to right (or vice versa). The tripod provides a stable axis point, allowing the sweeping motion to be free. This movement is often used to follow a character, as the camera can move, keeping the subject within the main focus of the frame, without minimising setting.
- Tilting-where the tripod remains stationary and the camera tilts up or down. Similar to panning but with alteration in direction, this movement can be applied to create a sense of unease in the character, creating suspense or mystery.
- Crane Shots- the crane (or jib) is a piece of equipment, size dependent on purpose. The camera is suspended and raised up according to the scene content- this effect allows horizontal and vertical movement, the location to be seen from a high angle, which can then be swept down out of the action.
- Tracking/Dollying- both the camera and tripod are mounted on a moving vehicle or platform (complicated shots involve rails), allowing smooth movements following the action, generally following a character or object. This type of shot is often a good way of the journey of a character, or for moving from a long shot to a close-up, gradually focusing the audience on a particular object or character.
- Handheld/ Steadicam-these cameras produce a jerky, ragged effect, in strong contrast to that of the tracking/ dolly shots. The Steadicam (a heavy contraption which is attached a camera to an operator by a harness. The camera is stabilized so it moves independently) brings smoothness to hand held camera movement. In modern filming, no "walk and talk" sequence would be complete without the use. Hand held cameras signify a kind of gritty realism, and they can draw the audience in, with the impression they are in the scene themselves, rather than viewing it in a still, set position.
Our media studies theory teacher taught us this all about camera movements in class.

Assignment 4:60 second video
For this assignment, our teacher told us to create a 60 seconds video with a powerful message.
Indeed this was a hard task keeping in mind the fact that we (my group members and I) were still amateurs.
For this assignment we (my group members and I) worked extremely hard. So much so that one of the shooting techniques we used led to our teacher regarding it as a bonus point for the video. We had to film it twice as we unable to find the footage the first time. It was directed by my team member Sani Farshori and Me (Ramish latif), Written by Rija Ahmad, and everybody had shared their ideas. Here is the link to the video(I have shared two videos as the first one was a bit long)

Synopsis and 25 word pitch
SYNOPSIS: A maid is working in the hose when paranoia hits her. she takes steps to overcome her fear but it's not only the strange things happening around her that give birth to this fear. What could be happening and what will the consequences be.
PITCH: An experience filled with thrill and horror will consume the audience in unveiling the mystery of the maid. what will trigger her and how will she overcome it?
We are actually inspired by few film openings so its a mix of different movies we've seen over the years but my group members and I really enjoy the horror genre so we decided to make a horror film opening. But you can say as The exorcist and Conjuring 2 are one of are favourite movies so we might have taken a little inspiration from there otherwise its all our own ideas which we came up with.

Storyboard,Script,Elevator pitch and props list
- We already had our first group meeting. So anyway, we had a discussion about which genre we where going to pick and after a long discussion we finally decided on working on a horror film opening. And also we discussed about what will be the story about our film opening. We all added our ideas in it and also did the planning on how we will shoot the the film opening using camera angles, movements, compostion, sounds, lighting, mise-en-scene and editing. We have divided the work but everyone's ideas and suggestions are there which we consider on each step.
Elevator Pitch: A inncocent young maid becomes a victim of the unkown.

But you can say as The exorcist and Conjuring 2 are one of are favourite movies so we might have taken a little inspiration from them. We looked up alot film openings. And also for the costume we took inspiration by a Korean Horror film when we we're searching the internet
We wanted to go with something like this, we took inspiration from it, didnt wanted to make it as sensual as it is this poster and also to show that our actress was actually innocent who became the victim of the evil, So we had chosen a white french maid looking outfit.
Here is a compilation of film openings I had seen and due to this I was inspired along with my group members to make a horror film opening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuOEyhrTVFM
We had already discussed and decided on the story so a few days after we made a soft copy of everything. and here is our storyboard: We might make some changes in our storybroad and if we do, I will post about it on the blog.
And also here is are script and props list:
We did all this before the shooting to have an idea what to do. But we made changes in the story as the production process went forward.
Have a good day! :D

Assignment 3: practicing lighting
Hello!
The other day our sir taught us about lighting and told us to practice. I did practice with different types of lighting. For the the blog I practiced the lighting with my brother and I took some pictures. Our sir told us about broad light, short light, soft light, hard light and half light. Also guys this is the video which I made along with my group members where we practiced lighting where we took a clock in pitch black and hovered a flashlight over it. In editing we added music. Here's the link:

These are the things I've learned up till now. :
Premier Pro CS6:
• Transitions
• Out point
• Audio and do sound
• Slow motion and increasing the speed of video
• In point
• Reverse effect
• How to render our video
As I joined late due to few reasons so I missed out few editing classes but I’m thankful to my media teacher Sir Nadeem and my friend sohaib vadey who helped me alot.

1st assignment
Composition : Rule of thirds
Hello!
In our practical media class we were taught about the basic composition of rule of thirds. Because it was my first class, I was a bit scared regarding the difficulty level of the subject while simultaneously being super excited about learning new and interesting techniques. Anyways, the "Rule of Thirds" is one of the main “rules” in art and photographic composition and stems from the theory that the human eye naturally gravitates in a "Z" formation across a certain view. So in other words, we were told to shoot by placing the main area of focus on one of the intersecting point on the basic 3x3 grid.
Here are some clicks I managed to take for the 2nd assignment.
